On Saturday, Prince George made a surprise appearance alongside Prince William in France to watch Wales take on Argentina in the Rugby World Cup quarterfinals. Father and son, dressed in matching navy suits and red ties, were both sitting in the presidential box at the Stade de Marseille as their team lost to Argentina and was knocked out of the tournament. Afterward, the young prince was introduced to Sir Bill Beaumont, the chairperson of World Rugby, and according to Beaumont, George did get an opportunity to enjoy some pizza on his trip to the match.
The next day, Beaumont shook hands with Kate Middleton as she attended the match where England defeated Fiji. In a video from their conversation, the pair discussed the matches that Beaumont had already attended, with a reference to William and George’s trip to the stadium the previous for the Wales match. “George enjoyed yesterday!” Beaumont said.
Kate explained that George was initially feeling some trepidation about joining his father at the event. “We told him, ‘Don’t worry about the cameras and all that. Just go and enjoy it,’” she said. “He loved it. He took full advantage.”
“Well, he tucked into the pizza alright!” Beaumont said.
“Yes, I know, I did hear that,” she said, before Beaumont introduced her to another person in the room.
It’s not the first time we’ve heard about George’s passion for pizza at a sporting event. In July, the prince joined William at a cricket match in London. In a particularly adorable photograph from the day, George is seen eating a piece of pizza while focusing on the match in front of him. His dad is standing over his shoulder and explaining the action. Back in 2018, Kate mentioned that George and his sister Princess Charlotte also liked to get involved when the family made pizzas at home.
