Meghan Markle and Prince Harry made a surprise appearance in Jamaica on Tuesday when the couple stepped out for the premiere of the new biopic Bob Marley: One Love.
The royal couple surprised audiences at Kingston’s Carib Theatre by showing up for the event, Markle in spaghetti strap top and a black silk taffeta ball skirt by Carolina Herrera, and Harry donning a navy suit paired with a white button-down shirt. The prince didn’t wear a tie, but instead left a few buttons at the neck open for a more casual look. Markle accessorized with large hammered gold disc earrings from Los Angeles-based designer Jennifer Meyer, and wore her hair pulled back in a sleek bun.
The movie, which is set to be released Feb. 14, follows the life of reggae icon Marley. The musician, who died of melanoma in 1981 when he was only 36 years old, is played by Kingsley Ben-Adir. His wife, Rita Marley, is portrayed by Lashana Lynch on screen.
The movie date comes after Harry was honored last Friday as a “living legend of aviation,” the awards ceremony for which (and accompanying jokes about Harry dancing and/or flying with event host John Travolta) Markle had to miss after one of their children was reportedly not feeling well. The couple have two young children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
Across the pond, health news continues to rock the royal family. Harry and Meghan became estranged from the British royal family when they resigned their official positions in the monarchy in 2020 and moved to California. Harry’s father, King Charles III, is undergoing treatment for an enlarged prostate, his sister-in-law, Kate Middleton, is recovering after an abdominal surgery that will keep her away from public engagements for months, and his aunt, Sarah Ferguson, announced over the weekend that she has been diagnosed with skin cancer, less than a year after sharing her breast cancer diagnosis.
