Jacob Elordi is reportedly being investigated by Australian law enforcement in relation to an alleged assault by the actor on a local radio show producer over the weekend.
According to a report first published by Australia’s Daily Telegraph, Elordi was approached outside the Clovelly Hotel by Joshua Fox, a producer for The Kyle & Jackie O Show. Fox recorded himself asking the actor to send some bathwater—a reference to a scene from Saltburn—to a member of the radio show’s staff. In audio from the incident shared on Sunday’s episode of the radio show, Elordi is heard asking Fox to stop recording. “Are you kidding? Are you filming? Can you not, man, please?” he says.
Fox, who appeared on the show Sunday, explained that Elordi then asked him to delete the footage he had recorded of their interaction. “I refused to [delete the footage] because I feel uncomfortable right now and this is the only evidence, and then Jacob kind of just flips and kind of pushes me against the wall and his hands are on my throat,” he said on the show.
Fox said he then walked away, and that one of Elordi’s friends followed him and made him promise to not share the video with anyone and not tell anyone about the altercation.
“Someone told someone, and the newspapers are calling all of us,” Fox said of how word got out, and how police got involved in the matter.
“I want this to end now, that’s it,” the producer said of the incident, insisting on the show that he did not call the police himself. According to the Daily Telegraph, no charges have yet been filed.
In a statement, New South Wales Police Force told Vanity Fair that the Eastern Beaches Police Area Command is investigating the incident after “a man was allegedly assaulted outside a hotel in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs. Police were told about 3.30 p.m. on Saturday 3 February 2024, a 32-year-old man was allegedly assaulted by a 26-year-old man. The man did not sustain any injuries. Inquiries into the incident is continuing.”
Representatives for Elordi and KIIS, the station on which The Kyle & Jackie O Show airs, did not respond to Vanity Fair’s request for comment.
